I'm a writer. That's a sentence I find difficult to say even though I've written fiction since the time when pen and paper were considered high-tech. It was always that I like to write but would never call myself a writer. I'm not certain exactly what the self imposed qualifications were to give myself that title, but I never felt I deserved it. I was in denial, like the person that a vice they say they're in control of and can quite anytime. I wish someone would have staged an intervention and told me that I was addicted to writing and that the dozens of notebooks and computer files with words, and characters, and stories I'd written mad me a writer. To paraphrase a statement heard in many anonymous support groups, "Hi, my name is Lena and I'm a writer."
