He threw my fragile heart over his shoulder

Disposing it as he would a bubble gum wrapper

Allowing it to shatter into a thousand little shiny pieces

Then walking further and further away from the damage

I picked up the pieces of my heart

Rescuing every single sliver of glass from the ground

Carrying the glistening pieces carefully in my hands

Then throwing them back into the furious fire

I watched the scraps of my heart in the flames

Little fragments melting ever so slowly

Taking the orange ball of liquid I began

To reshape it into its former splendor

I placed out my glass heart once again

Waiting patiently for the next pair of hands
